SP- The Plague
“Stay in the car, Valkyrie!” She nodded and rolled up the window. Skulduggery went up to the black motorbike where Ghastly was holding Tanith upright.
“She’s sick,” he said to him.
“I’ll take her,” Skulduggery said. “You need to stay alive while you can.” Tanith coughed and Ghastly jerked his head back.
“Sorry,” she croaked.
Skulduggery cocked his head in a “See? Told you so” position and held out his arms. Ghastly reluctantly gave his wife-to-be to Skulduggery and looked to Valkyrie. Already, she saw his face was beginning to pale and sweat trickled down his hot neck.
Valkyrie saw Skulduggery lean over and whisper something in Tanith’s ear. She nodded, burying her face in his suit. He stood stiff for a moment, and then relaxed his shoulders. “Ghastly,” he said. “I’ll take her in the Bentley. Take your van. Stay away from Kenspeckle’s and the Sanctuary. Go.” Ghastly got into his van and left.
Skulduggery now turned to Valkyrie.
“Where’s Fletcher?” he asked. “Is he alright?”
“Yeah, I was just talking to him.”
“Good. Tell him to take you home. I’ll be there, OK?”
Fletcher appeared a few minutes later, grabbing her and quickly teleporting away without even a glance at Tanith or Skulduggery.
Tanith moaned and tried to stand on her own. Skulduggery helped her walk to the car. When they were safely in the Bentley, Skulduggery drove away until you couldn’t see it anymore.
